A memory struck a suit,
flickering a captivated vision
of my sibling, Levi, that a maple candle light couldn’t touch.
I showed up at my childhood home,
remembering Levi’s half-baked concepts
that attracted Dad’s belt throughout our behinds.
I jingled modification in my slacks.
I had not been home for five years.
When I married Paisley,
We moved to Seattle for work
at her papa’s firm.
I remained in contact with my folks.
Mommy discovered FaceTime.
If there was anyone I intended to design my marital relationship after, it was Mother’s.
I was at home alone before the others arrived from the funeral service.
This bedroom had his scent, a mix of chewing cigarette and Polo perfume.
Sometimes, we ‘d sneak out after our individuals went to sleep. It’s where I fulfilled my future wife, and Levi satisfied his dependency– liquid nerve.
Secondary school appeared so long earlier,
Yet here I am,
sobbing as though we ‘d finished the other day.
When Levi’s liver went under, I almost did, as well.
I can not believe the year God provided us to chill.
He always intended to make a difference.
Levi assisted Papa obtain sober.
Father was too pleased to thank him.
I remained on Levi’s bed.
Rays split the thick clouds,
glowing a halo above the river below.
I smiled due to the fact that I knew it was Levi.
I really did not know what he was trying to tell me.
And possibly it was better this way.
Mama had it made with bed linen and a comforter
as though she expected Levi to return from Carolina.
